How to clean the glass windshield properly?
Precautions for Cleaning Glass Windshields
Glass windshields require special attention during cleaning and maintenance to avoid damaging the surface or affecting their transparency and lifespan. Here are some key tips for cleaning and maintaining glass windshields:
1. Choose the Right Cleaning Tools
Soft Cloth or Sponge: Use a soft, lint-free cloth (such as microfiber cloth) or a sponge. Avoid using rough or hard tools (like steel wool) to prevent scratching the glass surface.
Specialized Glass Cleaner: Use a neutral or specialized automotive glass cleaner. Avoid cleaners containing strong acids, strong alkalis, or abrasive particles.
2. Preparation Before Cleaning
Remove Surface Particles: Before cleaning, rinse the glass surface with water to remove dust, sand, and other particles to prevent scratches during wiping.
Avoid Cleaning on Hot Surfaces: Do not clean the glass when it is too hot (e.g., after prolonged exposure to sunlight), as this may cause the cleaner to evaporate too quickly or the glass to crack due to uneven heating.
3. Cleaning Steps
Spray the Cleaner: Spray an appropriate amount of glass cleaner onto the surface of the glass. Avoid spraying directly onto a dry cloth.
Wipe with a Damp Cloth: Gently wipe the glass surface with a damp cloth, wiping in one direction to avoid random streaks.
Dry with a Clean Cloth: Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the glass dry and prevent water spots or cleaner residue.
4. Avoid Using Improper Cleaners
Do Not Use Alcohol-Based Cleaners: Some alcohol-based or solvent-based cleaners may damage the UV coating or water-repellent coating on the windshield.
Avoid Using Laundry Detergent or Soap Water: These products may leave residues on the glass, affecting visibility.
5. Check the Wiper Blades
Regularly Clean the Wiper Blades: Dust or debris on the wiper blades can scratch the glass, so clean the blades regularly.
Replace Worn-Out Wiper Blades: If the wiper blades are worn out or damaged, replace them promptly to avoid scratching the glass during use.
6. Handling Special Situations
Removing Stubborn Stains: For stubborn stains like bird droppings, bug residue, or tree sap, use a specialized stain remover or place a damp cloth over the stain to soften it before cleaning. Avoid scrubbing too hard.
Removing Frost: In winter, avoid using sharp tools to scrape frost off the glass. Instead, use a specialized ice scraper or pour a small amount of lukewarm water (not hot water) to melt the frost.
7. Regular Maintenance
Inspect the Glass Surface: Regularly check the windshield for cracks or scratches and repair or replace it promptly if needed.
Apply Water Repellent: Consider applying a water-repellent product (e.g., Rain-X) to improve the glass’s water resistance. Ensure even application to avoid impairing visibility.
8. Avoid Bad Habits
Do Not Wipe with Bare Hands: Oils from your hands can contaminate the glass and cause smudges.
Avoid Letting Dirt Accumulate: Clean the glass regularly to prevent dirt buildup, which can be harder to remove over time.
By following these tips, you can effectively maintain the clarity and lifespan of your glass windshield, ensuring safe driving conditions.
How to install the windshield?
Here is the installation video for your reference.
The side brackets end up coming out right where the shoulder harness is located, they cannot put the brackets on the sides.
We recommend that you first rotate the seatbelt to the side, then create extra space before proceeding with the installation of the sheet metal. (Refer to the video for guidance.)
